Payments and Cancellations

These arrangements apply to lessons provided by Middlesbrough Music Academy Limited, trading as Middlesbrough Music Academy. Please read them before agreeing your lessons. Company and contact details.

Weekly lessons and payment

Your agreed weekly lesson time is reserved for you until you tell us you wish to stop. There is no minimum term or separate termination fee. With your authorisation, we collect payment through My Music Staff using Stripe three days before each lesson. Our usual lesson reminder is sent one day before the lesson, after the cancellation deadline.

Cancelling a lesson

You can cancel without charge by giving at least 72 hours' notice before the scheduled lesson start time. For example, a Friday lesson at 5pm must be cancelled by Tuesday at 5pm. You can cancel through the student portal, or contact us by email, telephone or your usual academy text-message contact. You do not need to speak to someone if you cancel through the portal.

For cancellations with less than 72 hours' notice, or if you do not attend, a cancellation charge applies, up to the full lesson fee. Your tutor's time has been reserved and the charge covers the reasonable net loss caused by the cancellation, including tutor costs that remain payable. We will take reasonable steps to reduce that loss and reduce the charge where costs are saved or additional replacement income reduces it. We will not recover the same loss twice. Any payment above the appropriate charge will be refunded.

Moving an existing student's lesson to another time does not, by itself, replace the income lost from your cancelled lesson. We will take account of any actual reduction in our loss resulting from a rearrangement.

Stopping weekly lessons

You can stop weekly lessons at any time through the same cancellation channels. There is no termination fee. The cancellation rules above still apply to any lesson scheduled to start less than 72 hours after you notify us. Lessons outside that period are cancelled without charge, and future automatic payments for those lessons will stop. We will confirm any remaining lesson charge and the cancellation of future appointments.

If we cancel

If the academy cancels a lesson you have already paid for, we will credit the amount to your account. You can choose a refund instead by contacting us. We will explain that choice when notifying you of the cancellation.

Your statutory rights

These arrangements do not restrict any statutory cancellation rights or remedies that apply to your booking, including where we do not provide the service as legally required.
