Learn how to hold the ukulele comfortably, find your first chords and connect them with a steady strum. Working on songs helps turn those early movements into music you recognise.

Once the basics feel familiar, you can explore new chord shapes, different strumming patterns and picking melodies. Lessons can develop with your confidence and the songs you want to try.

Beginners are welcome. We’ll find out what you’d like to play, introduce the instrument and give you a starting point that suits you. You can use an academy instrument during your lesson.

We’ll design your lessons around your goals, interests and experience. Whether you’re learning for fun, building confidence or working towards a performance, the approach can grow with you.

Do I need my own instrument?

No. We have instruments at the academy for you to use during lessons. You’re welcome to bring your own, but there’s no requirement to do so. If you’re thinking of buying an instrument, we’re happy to offer free advice, whether or not you’re a student with us.
